Frances Spufford had published several works on non-fiction before his debut fiction work and with each subsequent book we’ve been astounded by his relentless imagination and his spectacular ability to weave a story in ever surprising ways.
In Nonesuch we’re taken on a fantasty into Blitz-era London, where we find our protagonist, Iris Hawkins, working in the City. When she meets Geoff, who’s working in the BBC’s television unit and things become a little less like the war-era London we’re used to.
