Every one of our customers is a supporter, and we’re grateful for each of you joining us and spreading the word about our work at Kett’s Books. We have found that many of our supporters want to do a bit more than just buy books, so we’ve developed the Friends’ Scheme.
For a donation of £20 a year, our Friends get at least 10% off books, previews and discounts on upcoming publications, free entry to most author events, and invitations to special Friends-only events. This offer is renewable after one year.
Lifetime Friends
For those who can’t imagine not having Kett’s Books in your life, we’re making our first-ever change to the Friends scheme, to offer the option of being a Lifetime Friend – so we can seal that Friendship.
The Lifetime Friends scheme offers customers the option of helping us meet present challenges with a one-time donation of at least £250. In return we will give you a beautiful, specially designed card made of biodegradable plastic, and a fabric bag to carry all your books in. And you will never renew again, and you will have your Friends discount for the rest of your life!

History
The Friends scheme was devised before we had the name Kett’s Books, and before we had the keys to our first home in Wharton’s Court. We were confident that Wymondham had like-minded people who would step up to help us with a £20 donation to get us going, in return for a discount.
The scheme has proved invaluable, as it means that our customers are fully signed-up, card-carrying supporters of the community mission of Kett’s Books. The card helps us to recognise them as ‘one of us,’ and it means they carry a reminder of their loyalty in their purse or wallet.
Special thanks
We have to extend special thanks to the Friends of Kett’s Books for their support in helping us to achieve the project to move into 11 Market Place. In October 2022 the Directors called Friends together to meet in Wymondham Town Council’s chamber, so Tracy could remind them of the journey we’d been on since 2013 – and to talk about what could happen next. She asked, ‘Should we do this? Are you behind us?’ The support was overwhelming, and the Friends provided 60% of the total funding we needed to bring Kett’s Books to the centre of Wymondham.
In 2024 they stepped up again, when we were offered opportunity to buy the property. The Friends offered gifts and loans to help us meet the match-funding portion of a grant we were awarded. This campaign is still in progress, and the Lifetime Friend opporunity has been devised to support this effort
