Emily Portman is an award-winning singer, with a voice as clear as crystal and with an ear for finding magic in folk music, fairytales and traditions. She’s toured for over 15 years, solo, as a band leader with the Furrow Collective, and as a duo with Leveret’s Rob Habron.
‘One of the new British folk scene’s most beguiling presences’ – Uncut Magazine
Emily was awarded a BBC Folk award for ‘Best Original Song’ and has released three critically acclaimed albums of original songs that recast old ballads and fairytales into new shapes.
“Tongue-tied is one of my very favourite songs – etheral and delicate. When we started Oak Folk, Emily was on my wishlist of artists to bring to Kett’s. I’m sure you’ll love her as much as I do” – Em, Kett’s Books
Her latest solo album ‘Coracle’ received accolades and international recognition, taking her to European festival stages with a 6-piece band. With the award-winning band The Furrow Collective, Emily has released four acclaimed traditional song albums, and together they regularly tour the UK & Europe.
Emily’s collaborative work has led her to 2 more recent releases: a duo debut album with Rob Harbron and the UK Folk chart-topping album project ‘Sea Song Sessions’, featuring Jon Boden and Seth Lakeman.
Now, with her first solo album in a decade set for release, 2026 promises to be an exciting year for the Glastonbury-raised and Sheffield-based singer.
